Depending on my schedule and other commitments, I love doing school visits—especially in-person.
My visits center around helping kids delight in wordplay and all the unexpected ways we can combine letters and words to tell stories, express emotions, and make people laugh. By sharing my own ridiculous creations and working with them to invent new ones on the spot, I want to inspire them to think, “I wonder what I can do!” so they’re excited to make their own discoveries and creations.
My presentations (both large talks and smaller workshops) are full of energy and laughter—the latter of which seems to come mostly at my own expense. Most of my talks are for K-5, but I gladly run workshops for older groups as well. I’ve even given talks for adults, based on my experience in both TV and books, about the power of humor.
